Today I was travelling on the Coastal Renaissance, which is one of the larger vessels in BC Ferries’ fleet. Because of its size level 5 only opens when there’s high traffic. The view isn’t as good as from level 6, so people who want quiet(er) space tend to hang out down there when possible.
Which is what I was doing when I noticed this detail, etched on the steel frame by the window.
Now, I can understand why they might etch numbers and such like… but a traditional ship’s steering wheel? Does this have meaning and purpose or did the person etching the information just have an artistic fit?
I took several pictures, I liked the reflections on this one as well.
