The buds on this willow branch are sprouting quite enthusiastically. I find this slightly alarming, given that the branch was cut off the tree a month ago.

I can’t remember where I have seen this, but I have seen fence posts that were made using willow and the wood has sprouted and the fence looks like a line up of weird hairy creatures attached to each other with barbed wire.
You have confirmed my worst fears. Willow NEVER DIES.
