In the midst of early-spring greyness leavened with a bit of green and a few not overly-exciting flowers, this.
I’ve been noticing this bush for a few years, but this is the first time I’ve seen it flowering. It’s Ribes lobbii, aka Gummy Gooseberry (because its leaves and fruit are sticky), pioneer gooseberry, fuschia-flowered gooseberry and red-flowered gooseberry. Edible, but apparently not very palatable. I’ll try to remember to take pictures of the fruit when they appear.
