AKA Calypso bulbosa, or calypso orchid. I mentioned I’d seen one a few days ago and would post a picture—there’s a lot more out now.
Great shot – the lighting is perfect.
Thank you!
Like, like, like this picture! I am a big fan of wild orchids, and I checked Wkipedia and this is a wild one. Not growing in Norway, but not so very far from here; in Russia. I am really looking forward to the orchid season (june-july).
Thank you! Yes, it is wild and extremely beautiful. It is also very delicate—apparently it is almost impossible to transplant. We are very lucky because one came up in our garden a couple of years ago—the flower is not out yet this year, but I’m waiting eagerly.
I tried to transplant one a couple of years ago & you are right, it didn’t take & now I have one less in my back forest. :( I love them. Great shot, you must have been lying on the ground to get that one!
I have a wee monitor screen that folds out from the back of the camera and twists to pretty much any angle, so the camera lies on the ground but luckily I don’t have to!
