Arbutus detail Another photo of the arbutus we lost a couple of weeks ago. I was quite taken by the colours in this. Advertisements Like this:Like Loading... I really like these shots. And great to collect something beautiful from the tree so that it is not entirely lost. Yes, it reminded me of fabric too. Right now we’re trying to figure out what to do with such beautiful wood (other than burn it). We’re thinking coasters and cutting boards might be good options to explore. Hi. My understanding is that it is not very stable wood prone to warping over time and that for any larger uses you need to cut into strips and laminate them. But, cutting boards are probably great – my parents did that with smaller rounds from one of their downed arbutus and have used them for years. They never wear out. That’s great to know about the stability, thanks! Comments are closed.
