Bleeding hearts

I took over 500 photos of flowers, yesterday, which sets me a fairly daunting task when it comes to sorting through them. So in the meantime, have some pictures of bleeding hearts from May.

Yesterday I spent an hour and a half in a friend’s yard, taking pictures of tulips. I think it was worth it. More pictures will follow over the next days!

Pink and gold

closeup of pink poppy with a bug

We found the most amazing poppies walking today.

The bug is not a bee or wasp, but a hoverfly (family Syrphidae); beyond that identification I won’t venture.Ā They feed on nectar and pollen. And you can see the wee bits of pollen dust all over the petal behind it.

It’s pouring rain today, so a bit of colour to cheer myself up.Ā These were taken aĀ month or so ago; there’s not near as much colour around at the moment., even without the rain.
